How do you lock your parasol?
It is difficult to control wind and weather, and therefore we can sometimes be surprised by sudden changes. Even though it is summer in Denmark and the sun is shining, it does not mean that it is completely windless.
Maybe you have experienced carrying an umbrella or sitting under a mini parasol on the beach, which suddenly gets caught by a gust of wind. When that happens, you just have to be quick – but it’s not quite as simple with a large parasol in the garden.
Avoid your parasol tipping over
It is not always easy to secure the parasol, and it can end up with flying parasols in the garden or a parasol that falls onto the garden table – but what should you do to avoid that?
Some choose to lower the parasol when it is windy, and it can also be a good idea to lay the parasol completely down when you are finished with it – but it is also a bit inconvenient, isn’t it?
If nothing else, it is certainly the safe solution, but it also requires quite a bit from you every time the parasol is in use. In this post, however, we have gathered a few good tips that you can use to best secure your parasol against windy weather.
It is important to have the right parasol base
A parasol base does not always come with your purchase of a parasol – and if it does, it is rare that it is a robust one of its kind.
But you should not underestimate the importance of a good parasol base. It is available in a wide range of different weight classes, and the right one for you depends on the size of your parasol. Often, you can read on the parasol what the recommended weight is, but in reality, we would actually just recommend you to buy the heaviest parasol base you can find.
The parasol base is precisely what provides the best conditions to keep the parasol where it should be, so of course, you shouldn’t skimp on it! Fortunately, you can find a wide selection of designs, so we are absolutely sure that there is the right parasol base for you.
Do you need to move your parasol around?
A very heavy parasol base may sound intimidating to some – because how do you move something like that around? We know that a parasol base can be very difficult to move, which is why it can be a good idea to put wheels on it, so you can easily move it around as needed. The most important thing is that the wheels can be locked so they don’t slide around as soon as it gets windy.
If you do not need to move your parasol around, you can also choose to bury the parasol’s pole. This way, you can at least be sure that it won’t easily topple over – however, the parasol will be significantly lower with this solution.
