How do you lock your parasol?

It is difficult to control the wind and weather, and therefore we can sometimes be surprised by the sudden change. Even though it is summer in Denmark and the sun is shining, it does not mean that there is completely calm wind.

Maybe you have experienced walking around with an umbrella or sitting under a mini parasol on the beach, which suddenly gets caught by a gust of wind. When that happens, you just have to be quick – but it’s not quite as simple with a large umbrella in the garden.

Avoid having your parasol topple over

It is not always easy to secure the umbrella, and it can result in flying umbrellas in the garden or an umbrella that falls onto the garden table – but what should you do to avoid that?

Some choose to lower the umbrella when it is windy, and it can also be a good idea to lay the umbrella completely down when you are done with it – but it is also a bit cumbersome, isn’t it?

If nothing else, it is definitely the safe solution, but it also requires a lot from you every time the parasol is in use. In this post, we have gathered a few good tips that you can use to best protect your parasol against the windy weather.

It is important to have the right umbrella base

A parasol base does not always come with your purchase. parasol – and if it does, it is rarely a sturdy one of its kind.

But you should not underestimate the importance of a good umbrella base. It can be found in a wide range of different weight classes, and the right one for you depends on how large your umbrella is. Often, you can read on the umbrella what the recommended weight is, but in reality, we would actually just recommend that you buy the heaviest umbrella base that you can find.

The parasol base is indeed what provides the best conditions for keeping the parasol where it should be, and therefore, one should not skimp on it! Fortunately, you can find a large selection of designs, so we are completely sure that there is the right parasol base for you.

Do you need to move your umbrella around?

A very heavy umbrella base may sound daunting to some – because how do you just move one around? We know that an umbrella base can be very difficult to move, and therefore it might be a good idea to put wheels underneath, so you can easily move it around as needed. The most important thing is that the wheels can be locked in place, so they don’t slide around as soon as it gets windy.

If you do not need to move your parasol around, you can also choose to bury the parasol’s pole. This way, you can at least be sure that it won’t easily tip over – however, the parasol will be significantly lower with this solution.
