What regulations are Zederkof's tents designed according to
All our constructions are designed according to the rules for transportable constructions cf. DS/EN 13782 with associated Danish annexes.
Certificates are issued in accordance with BEK no. 673 of 01/07/2019 – “Executive Order on certification scheme for transportable structures” and based on certification inspection report number 125-29688.006.
What are "Terrain categories"
It is the different categories that are the basis when classifying different landscape classes. These help to nuance the requirements for setups. The more open the landscape, the more consideration must be given to the strength of the material and vice versa.
For which wind are the tents designed and certified
They are designed and certified according to Medium wind measured at 10 meters height. This is the same wind indicated in the meteorological institute’s weather forecasts.
Is a wind meter required for setting up Zederkof's tents
No. Our calculations are based on the average wind measured at 10 meters height. This corresponds to the wind speeds reported by the meteorological institute in weather forecasts
What is required to access Zederkof's tent books for certification
At Zederkof today/the future is your main supplier of tents
Can components from other suppliers be included when a tent system is certified
Yes, it can. It requires that the parts can be qualified as at least the same strength as Zederkof’s components.
Are there cases where it is necessary to replace parts
Yes, for example, Zederkof’s 12 meter tents are designed with 4-track profiles. If you have 2-track profiles from other suppliers, they must be replaced in order to use our calculations.
Do you have to stay with Zederkof when you have used Zederkof's calculations as the basis for a certification
No, you can always switch to another main supplier. However, this requires that you also switch to their calculation basis, use their tent books, and complete a new certification.
Why has Zederkof made new calculations/tent books
For the past 12 months, there has been a debate about whether a minimum of 20×800 mm pegs must be used effectively in the ground. We have declared ourselves directly opposed to this. It is a misinterpretation of the rules. This has led us, through our work to demonstrate our position, to now have the industry’s most flexible and innovative approach to the use of ground spikes and ballast in relation to applicable certification rules. Our ground spike program ranges from 16×600 to 32×1000 mm, which can be freely chosen according to the certification desired.
How do different ground spike sizes provide flexibility
For example, if you set up in terrain category 4 (City/dense buildings) and the weather forecast predicts no or light wind, the tent can be set up with a small ground spike. However, if you set up in terrain category 1 (Open landscape), you can use a larger ground spike, and the construction can thereby withstand more wind load. This means that in many cases you can save significant time compared to mounting ground spikes and thereby achieve an economic gain.
What if the weather changes compared to what was assumed
There must always be either an evacuation plan or an upgrade plan for the structure’s wind load capacity. In case the wind exceeds the allowed limit, our construction allows for a quick and easy upgrade of strength by applying guy ropes. This provides flexibility and safety for everyone.
